Dan and his beloved gentlemen got ready at the amazing Dave Allyn's house. Rob shot on his Bolex while and Ira kept everyone in line. What a bunch of handsome guys!
My fabulous team of friends and family got all of the ladies ready at our home. Beauty magicians and beloved friends, Rose Fortuna and Bre Welch, made everyone absolutely gorgeous. Sparkles and lashes for all <3
We arrived at the Steel Yard a little early with plans to take our family photos before the ceremony. Dan looked so handsome in his suit and I felt like a queen in my sparkles. We got to have a little family hang out time while we organized for pictures and Claire saved the day by ordering us last minute pizza. We had been so excited and busy getting ready that we'd skipped lunch. Hooray for pizza and family!
Lots of handsome gents and lovely ladies. We are lucky to have all of these wonderful people in our lives!
Our ceremony was super fun and full of love. It began with all of our friends and family gathering around the stage, dancing along with the Extraordinary Rendition Band. They performed a few amazing pieces for the crowd and played us in to "Stand by Me". Fred Gorman, fellow artist and dear friend of ours, performed the ceremony. We wrote our own vows and adapted a handfasting ceremony. I was attended by my lovely sisters, Emily and Claire Rittershaus, and my fabulous sister-in-law, Katie Rittershaus. Dan was attended by his wonderful friends, Rob Houllahan, Nidal Fakhouri and Dave Allyn.
The ERB paraded everyone out of the ceremony, leading us out to the bar and the food trucks. SO many beloved friends! So many hugs and toasts and cheers!
DJ TY Jesso led our first dance with "I Don't Want to set the World on Fire" by the Ink Spots. My father and I then danced to Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Edelweiss". We then invited the whole crowd to the dance floor to "She's a Rainbow" by the Rolling Stones. Swirling ribbon dancers and lots of love filled the air <3
My sisters, Claire and Emily Rittershaus, gave a lovely speech and toasted to our "whaley beautiful" future. They were followed by groomsman, Nidal Fakhouri, who gave a heartfelt and hilarious speech as well. So much love!
Once dancing was in full swing, it never stopped! There were sparklers and ribbon dancers and ice cream and laughing and barrel fires and so many smiles.
The Steel Yard is a fabulous arts community and is full of beautiful textures, materials and creations. We love the space, as well as it's mission, and we were so happy to have it be a part of our big celebration.
